LIFE Enrich comes back for the BIT 2022 Congress

LIFE Enrich got to the finish line last November 2021. Almost one year later, Carme Biel (researcher from the program “Sustainable Plant Protection Program” of IRTA, Institute of Research and Food Technologies) shared the core and results of the project in the 1st BIT Congress 2022.

LIFE Enrich is a project funded by the European Programme for Environment and Climate Action (LIFE), aimed to recover nutrients from wastewater and their use as crop fertilizers. With a total duration of 51 moths, it managed to recover 42% of P and 11% of N with the treatment and operational train developed in the project, as well as a significant reduction of 3,3% of the total OPEX of the WWTPs.

In the conference, organized by the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, Carme Biel shared with more than 150 assistants (face-to-face and virtual), the “nutrient recovery of wastewater and their use for crop fertilizers” developed by LIFE Enrich.

Last 29th and 30th of September 2022, Lleida Hosted the 1st BIT Congress (Bioeconomy, Innovation and Technology), aimed to strengthen the ecosystem of companies, technology and research centers, entrepreneurs and start-ups and enhance the transformative capacity and improvement of these sectors. LIFE Enrich is a powerful example of how innovation, technology and public-private synergies turn into great results that benefit all the actors involved in the chain, boosting circular economy and green practices.
